In July, 2010, Cooperative Coffees member and Georgia based roaster Cafe Campesino led a group to Colombia to visit Fondo Paez. Just as Cooperative Coffees organizes coffee buyers to buy in bulk, Fondo Paez organizes small coffee farmers (campesinos) to sell in bulk. Through this visit, Cafe Campesino introduced customers to the farmers and the families who produce the coffee they buy from Cafe Campesino. The trip also made transparent Cafe Campesino's business practices with Fondo Paez as several days were spent in meetings learning of the challenges Fondo Paez faces and negotiating price-points for coffee purchases.
